Geographical Description:

A hamlet called Covington Mill situated in the mountains North of Sacramento, close to Redding, East of Eureka

Zip code: 96052, US Place code: 16756, in Trinity County (105)

There are three references to Covington in the Trinity County Mountain Peak Directory, these are:

Granite Peak at 40.5437 North, 122.5216 West (elevation 8091)

Gibson Peak at 40.5637 North, 122.5218 West (elevation 8400)

Seven Up Peak at 40.5743 North, 122.5214 West.

From Highway.5 take Highway 299 west to Weaverville (approx. 42 miles). Take Highway 3 North (approx. 25 miles). You will see Covington Mill on your right - immediately to your left is Long Canyon Rd., Wendy's Creekside Hideaway is approximately 1 mile up on the left hand side

Local rocks include Oligocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern California).

History:

Named after the Saw Mill that was established by brothers Guy and Virgil Covington, who came to the area near Trinity Center from the Washington State area in the late 1800s.

In the 1950s when Disneyland California was being constructed, much of the wood was milled here in Trinity to build the Magic Kingdom. Many worker and family cabins survive today from the turn of the century.
